Good Friday

It's 5:30pm and i am still full from lunch.
And oh was it good! Ham (!!!), potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower, pluma mouse, hot-crossed buns, home made mustard... We were in heaven! And conversation about home and people we know from there. It was truly lovely. When we arrived Josh mentioned something about Ham and our hosts confirmed that, Yes, indeed there was to be ham for lunch, i got tears in my eyes! Honestly, it's amazing to me how food has the power to connect immediately to "home".

Before lunch the kids (heavily supervised by adults) coloured eggs by dipping them in dye. Judah was beside himself with excitement for this project, although the waiting for the dye to make the eggs a dark colour was simply too excruciating for him. He generally dropped the egg in and asked to take it out 30 seconds later.

Remarkably, the Plett's live not 300 meters from where we live, so we've planned to get together again sometime soon. Judah would love to take advantage of their pool! I, on the other hand, was thrilled to find people who shared some of my theological and literary leanings especially coming from a place where i feel somewhat outnumbered by ...people who think differently than i do (ha. how's that for a diplomatic statement! :-D )

All in all it was a wonderful afternoon, as close to a Southern Manitoban Easter gathering with family as we could get on this side of the world.
