Today we skipped church (gasp!) and met up with friends from Madagascar who are in Nairobi for the day en route to Uganda (our neighbours from Tana) and some other missionary friends who evacuated Madagascar a week before we left. It was weird to see all our friends here in this other place and have a meal together with them in an environment we've never been to as a group. We went to Java House, (surprise, surprise) and the kids got to play in the huge play area on the second floor of the mall. It was so nice to catch up with people we've known for more than one week. It was relaxing.
Later after a healthy lunch of burgers and fries we walked to the outdoor market and took a look at the great secondhand clothes and crocs. It's so novel for me to have these luxuries so close to where we live. Also in the general area is a movie theatre!! We're thinking to take Judah to see "Ice Age 3" in the theatre, since he's been watching the Ice Age movies on the disc of 10 movies we bought at the market for 50cents. :-) Today, however, it's more of the same kind of Sunday schedule we're used to: nap, chat on skype with family, a very light supper (maybe icecream! we're over indulging on icecream since we've been without it since December!!)
In other news, since Matthew (our neighbour from Mada) flew in with MAF Mad's plane yesterday he brought a package with him!! that actually arrived in the mail from Canada to Madagascar despite political turmoil. I am shocked, to be honest, that it came through. So the package was euphorically received here in Kenya :-) Thanks to the people responsible for sending it!! Judah is really enjoying the new toys and books. And we're quite elated with the new reading material ourselves!!

it was so great to see you again today...thanks for skipping church for us. :)
also, i just saw at the bottom of this blog that you were wishing you had known about blogger before you started blogging. i think (but i'm not 100% sure) that you could import your xanga blog into blogger, if you wanted to change. not sure you still feel that way, judging from the next post up. :D
So great to hear about your continuing, ongoing, never-ending adventure! Who knew that when God said, "hey, let's go to Madagascar," he really meant, "and South Africa and Kenya and..." I'm praying hard for continued adjustment and patience and healing. When I get a minute to breathe (I'm holding out for Easter) I'll tell you all about my new job. Marguerite
Well I just caught up on a couple weeks worth of blog entries. I'm glad to hear that things seem to be going well and that you guys sound like you are adjusting to the new place well.
I just read that bit about God's timing in all of it and thought how that is so true. Sometimes i think we forget that he has a timing for our lives and that he has certain things in store for us if we are open to it. It is something I have been considering in my own life how certain things are happening that seem scary but when you view it in light of God's timing it can turn a some what stressful situation into an exciting one. Anyway, thanks for the thought.
